VOB to DNxHD MOV-How to Get Avid Media Composer Working with VOB files

This guide shows you how to convert VOB to Avid Media Composer supported formats so that you can edit VOB files in Avid MC without troubles.

VOB is the container format in DVD-Video media, which can contain digital video, digital audio, subtitles, DVD menus and navigation contents multiplexed together into a stream form. It is widely used in DVDs. MPlayer, VLC Media Player, GOM player, Media Player Classic and more platform-specific players like ALLPlayer play VOB files. However, VOB files are not widely supported by video editing software, for example, Avid Media Composer.

Avid Media Composer is non-linear editing system. The program allows you for film editing, uncompressed standard definition (SD) video and high definition (HD) editing and finishing. But, Avid Media Composer doesn't import .vob files. For Premiere users, you can simply change the .vob extension to .mpg, but Avid will not import .mpg. Generally, DNxHD is the most compatible format for Avid Media Composer.

To edit VOB in Avid Media Composer, the easy workaround is to convert VOB to Avid MC supported video formats.
