Transferring Canon MK II 4K MXF videos to Editable on Camtasia Studio

Below is a guide for you, you can follow it to convert Canon C300 MK II 4K MXF to Camtasia Studio 7/8 WMV/MP4 format for editing.

For C300 Mark ii users, when we want to edit the 4K MXF videos through Camtasia, it fails. Why?

Camtasia Studio supports AVI, .WMV, MPEG-1, .MP3, .WAV, .WMA, and .MOV (QuickTime) files. It does not support MXF/P2 MXF, AVCHD files (.m2ts, .mts, and .m2t), XAVC, MXF, Video_TS, MPEG-2, MOD, Ogg, WebM, .RM (RealPlayer), .FLV (Flash Video), 3GPP, and SWF created outside Techsmith products. It means that those videos incompatible cannot be imported to Camtasia Studio directly and must be converted or re-recorded.

For converting C300 MK II 4K MXF video into editing friendly format, the best recommendation is Brorsoft MXF Converter .

Pros

This software works very well and operation is simple. It can generates more optimal editing formats/codecs for you to use in different NLE apps, such as Adobe After Effects, Adobe Premiere Pro, Sony Vegas Pro, Camtasia Studio, Windows Movie Maker and more. Personally I am very pleased with the product. As I have only used the product a few times so far it is difficult to give any constructive comments at this stage but all my conversions were done successfully with stunning image quality – I can hardly tell any quality difference.

[MXF to ProRes MOV]Convert MXF clips from Canon XF100 to Final Cut Pro (X)?

Have got a Canon XF100 and want to import/edit MXF footages in Final Cut Pro 7, FCP X without rendering; check out the guide to learn how to convert Canon XF100 MXF to FCP compatible video format on Mac OS X (MacOs Sierra included).

Q: I have a Canon XF100. Being strictly an amateur, I would like to avoid the expense of full blown NLEs such as Final Cut Pro, iMovie, Final Cut Express. that can handle Canon’s MXF files. So here’s my question: What formats can I convert to and still get 100%, high quality/top quality HD video that would be equal to the video I would get with any of the aforementioned editors? Many thanks in advance for any response!

Anyway, don't be anxious. At first, let’s know something about MXF, OK? What is mxf? And what format is the best to be converted to for editing?

Currently, there’re two basic MXF types: One is those where the essence (media) is stored in the same file as the metadata that refers to it. The other is that where the essence is stored in separate files to the metadata, while these files have External essence.

MXF is a self-container format which is unacceptable by various non-linear editing systems (NLE), like Final Cut Pro (FCP 6/7/X), Sony Vegas, Avid Media Composer, Premiere, etc. In order to import the MXF clips from Canon XF100 to FCP, the easy workaround is to transcode MXF files to Final Cut Pro (X) native formats (Apple ProRes encoded .mov is highly recommended). Along with some help from a top MXF Converter for Mac, it can be done. Media Composer 7 brings forth the next phase in the Avid Media Access (AMA) workflow. AMA is Avid’s answer to the ability of other packages to read media in their native formats. Other packages allow video producers to import the footage and read the root files while editing. Then, in order to view the video in real-time, you often need to render the clips in your timeline. Traditionally, Avid editors have assistant editors that transcode the footage upon ingest. (This can save studios considerable dollars, as AEs have a lower pay rate per hour than editors.) This generation of AMA not only allows editors to reference clips in their original format, but also transcode in the background.
